Marc Chagall, 1887 - 1985, Titel: Drawings for the Bible, mit 24 original Farblithographien und 23 schwarz weißen Lithos, 96 Tafeln, Paris, Verve, 1960, 98 Blatt, 36 x 27 cm, orig. Pappband, Verve X, 37-38 - Mourlot 230-280 - Cramer 42, Die zweite "Chagall Bibel", erschien als Nr. 37/38 der Reihe Verve, bereits 1956 erschien die erste Chagall Bibelebenfalls als Doppelheft Nr. 33/34 in der Reihe Verve. In den Jahren 1958 - 1959 entstanden weitere Zeichnungen zur Bibel,die vor allem die Frauen des alten Testaments vortellen und die Schöpfungsgeschichte ins Bild setzten. Die beiden Bibeln zählen zu den bedeutendsten Werken chagalls im Bereich der Original-Druckgraphik. Mit einer Einleitung von Gaston Bachelard und den Erläuterungen, gedruckt bei Mourlot. |

Cardboard tape, Verve X, 37-38 - Mourlot230-280 - Cramer 42, The second "Chagall Bible " appeared as No. 37/38 of the Verve series, already in 1956 the first Chagall Bible also appeared as a double issue No. 33 /34 in the Verve.
